Robin has just set up an E-Mail address for me so you can, if you wish, send me a message. 1111poppy@gmail.com

This is a wedding picture of my Mommy and Daddy

I think I am the puppy on the left,
my sister had left for Alberta already.

Poppy, the Westie, (West Highland Terrier), arrived home on November 11 after a long drive through the snow from Vancouver. After an initial baptism of “what puppies do best”, we made a pit stop in Chilliwack for baby wipes and  paper towels.

She then slept all the way through the 5 hour trip home. Arriving home at about 8 o'clock she was ready to play, were we?

Poppy is quick and very agile and will soon have US trained.

Stay posted for the ongoing pics of the new addition to the Russell Family.

PS/
A white poppy signifies “peace”… a friend tells us born on Sept. 11…that makes her a Virgo and we hope she is not a disaster!

January 4th 2007

I survived the Xmas Festivities, visits from Greg and Diana (thank you for making me so pretty on Christmas day and taking me to Heralds Park for a long walk.) Some pictures were taken for you to see. I was like a little snow ball. It was cold on my tummy dragging through the deep snow and my paws were all covered with balls of snow. Met some big dogs and they were quite friendly!!!

Arwynn and Chris came down from Revelstoke last Saturday and I really tried to be good.
Arwynn had to tell me "down" a couple of times but I was too excited to understand, so was sent to my room for a "time out".

I take Robin for a walk down to the mailbox every day and if I am really energetic we will go out again in the afternoon.
The other day I learnt to climb the front stairs.

I had visits from Monty Lee and his friend Joey yesterday and I watch Monty and Joey go down the stairs, so guess what I followed them.  Freedom!!  I understand that higher gates are going to be installed to prevent me from doing that on my own, oh well.

This morning I jumped up on Robin's chair so comfortable just like the new chesterfield, I can really stretch out and enjoy.

January 14 2007

No new pictures this time????

Well, I've been here over 2 months and boy I have ever learnt a lot, I can jump up on the big bed via a trunk which is handy and easier to jump up on first and then onto the bed, very comfy, Sure surprised Robin and Cynde.

To day I tried the dining chairs for comfort, too hard, but easy to get at things which are on the dining table. Went for a walk today and met Sarah she is a neighbourhood dog and much older we touched noses but that was all.

Yesterday, while Cynde was at work Robin put me in my crate for an afternoon nap, after all I am just a baby, well he left the gate open and I slept for 2 hours before coming out to the living room, was he ever surprised. I might do that again I got a treat.

Robin bought a "Halti" I don't like it. I think he wants to slow me down when we go for walks. He can't keep up with me "old slow poke"   He got his gold card from the Government the other day so I GUESS HE IS GETTING OLD!!

It is too cold outside around -14 really nippy on my little feet. Any one got little booties?

Got to go for my nap I am getting a little out of hand. Bye for now.

Robbie Burns Day (who ever he is)

I went to see my friendly vet , Kari, yesterday and I had the last of my "shots" for 2007 didn't even feel them. The liver treats were yummy, thanks. Cynde and Robin had some instruction in behaviour modifications I am not sure what that was all about,  Cynde says that ignorance is not always bliss when my new adult teeth are piercing skin but  I am sure she'll learn to accept.!!!!!!!

January 30 2007

Yesterday, I went to the groomer to have a "spa treatment" if you look below you will see the before and after  as you can see I think there is a bit of difference. Unfortunately I moved quickly and got a nick in my ear but I don't think you can see it today.

It sure was cool outside so I stayed inside when I came home and spent the whole afternoon sleeping on the chesterfield in front of the fire. I didn't even bother Robin who was doing all sorts of things in the back bedroom.   Of course that meant that I was up a good part of the night wanting to play, Cynde of course stayed with me. To day it is still too cold to spend much time outside so I'll spent the day chewing on a leather (or something else anything at all)  in front of the fire, sooo warm!!

February 24 2007
It does not seem like a month since a updated my page. A lot has happened in that time. Spring is almost here and I am finding all sorts of things that have been buried under the snow. I did not know what grass was. Dried up leaves that get blown by the wind, they are fun to chase.  Cynde took me out for a long walk at Heralds Park beach and I almost went for a swim. Boy was the water cold not like my bath and oh some much of it. Oh yes I could not walk on it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess what? I got a tattoo. Yes I am like the rest of the kids now. But I really can't show it off. It is inside my ear. It's not very fancy some numbers and letters.

When they were doing my tattoo, I was under an anesthetic and had a operation. So I can't have any puppies.

You may notice the picture of me at the top of the page. I was sitting on top of the chesterfield watching the birds in the bird feeder when Robin took this picture. I rather like it !

March 21st 2007
Welcome back everybody. I have been busy lately and haven't had much chance to press the keys. I've been to Vancouver and walked on the beach at English Bay. Paid no attention to the sign that said "NO DOGS" apparently the fine if caught on the beach is $2000.00, we didn't get caught.  Glad I live in Tappen, it rained all the time we were in Vancouver I got very wet. Stayed in a nice hotel,The Sylvia, that caters to dogs so I didn't have to spend too much time in my crate. I walked up Denman Street, what a lot of traffic, very busy. Picked up Andrew, Sheann and Darrian  and drove home to Salmon Arm in a rainstorm I was relegated to the back of the car with all the luggage so I didn't see a lot so I slept.

The kids bought a game in Kamloops "Mousetrap" I was not asked to play so I swallow one of the steel marbles It slipped right down. Right now I am in the hospital, they need to cut me open to remove the ball I'll be here for another day.The vet took some pictures I am hoping to show everybody what my insides look like with the ball in plain view. I might have that tomorrow.   So keep watching.

March 28 2007

The sun is shining and its a week since I swallow the ball and had it surgically removed. I am still on starvation rations and getting fed every 2½ hours I am not supposed to be energetic but I can't help myself,  I'am a puppy. I was given a real live bone yesterday. The vet said it was OK. Robin and Cynde told him I've been chewing the furniture and being a real pest. I have some more teeth coming in and I have to chew.

The weather is really warm and sunny and I can spend a lot of time outside on the deck. I enjoy the warmth of the sun. and I can watch the birds. There is a family of swallows beginning to build a nest on the shop and they fly back and forward. Maybe they might land on the deck and play with me.

Last evening a noise outside really scared me and I barked and barked. Robin went outside to see what the matter was and a whole bunch of men in fireman's gear were walking down the driveway. I was introduced to them and one of them asked if he could pet me. I got praised for being a good watch dog.

Just in case you did not notice I have an Email address 1111poppy@gmail.com but nobody has sent me any emails. I would really like to hear from the grandkids. Bye for now.

May 1

I had just been to the groomers for a beauty treatment, but the tuplips needed to be thinned out. They were really nice and cool to lie on. I don't understand Robin and Cynde they didn't like me gardening.

These are my doggy park friends in Sorrento. Spirit, Mikee,Kelly-Boy. Mikee and I look alike can you tell which one is me?

Just to help you out this is close up picture of me

I don't think I'am supposed to be in among the flowers, but they are called "Snow in Summer"

Just found this article about Westies in the June 2007 edition of the Scots Magazine.
Christian Cameron-Head of Inverailort.

..................Christian had been brought up with Drynoch Terriers from early childhood - they had been bred by her family since the 1700s when her forbears on the Isle of Skye, the 5th and 6th Lairds of Drynoch, bred the first cream and white specimens from an earlier mongrel variety. By the early 1900s Drynoch had evolved to a distinct breed -m shortly to be known as the West Highland White Terrier, and formally classified as such by the Kennel Club in 1906.

Christian did nothing by halves. She joined the West Highland White Terrier Clubs of England and Scotland as soon asthey were formed and a year later swept the board at Crufts and other national events. Her idea of atpye was a fixed one  - she sought a "strong, small-boned dog, small enough to go to earth, and strong enoughto fight the quarry when he got there". By 1916 this defination of the breed together with others she contributed had been absorbed into the authoitative Kennel Encyclopaedia and The Hippodrome ( London Periodical) described her as a "foremost authority on the breed".....................................

This is a picture of Ruffy one of the dogs in Robin's life. He looks very stern not like me. He was a wheaten cairn terrier. I think he looks a little bit like me. I am told that his name was short for Rufus meeaning red, but he was also called Ruffian Iam told he was not very well behaved. Maybe that is a family trait.

July 7th 2007
Hi everyone it has been a while since I've added any pictures. I've been busy we have had company Sheann and Darrian have been visiting from Powell River,  we havehad a lot of fun. We visited the park in Sorrento and they met my friends Mikee, Spirit, Kellyboy, Penny, Z***** I cannot spell her name..and of course Rob the Park Maintenance guy.   I went to Princeton to pick up the kids and had a nice trip it was hot so we visited a water park. Of course "The no dogs allowed rule" was in effect it sure would have been nice to play with the kids in the water, adults are funny that way. Unfortunately I picked up a burr or something on my foot and it got infected so I visited my friendly doctor he was nice, he gave me some antibiotics and a collar to wear. It is not very pretty and I really don't like it. It does not go with my outfits. My paw is getting better I've just been told to not dig in the dirt. I can't understand that one!!!  I am a terrier and that's what terriers do. Oh well.
Did I tell you I am allowed to sleep all night on the bed no more dog cage, I hope that continues so much more room and much more comfortable as well.
I spent the night at Mikee's.  I am exhausted with all the play. Thanks Neil and Ann for puttig up with me I am sure you were happy to see me go home!!!!
This is my latest picture. Susan, my groomer, gave me a really nice look. Thank you, also I enjoyed playing with Dillon hope he didn't mine me chewing on his leather.

I thought this picture was pretty nice

Mikee and I were rolling in the bed,

I amnot sure who is who?

I got a phone call the other day from my Mummy and Daddy to tell me that I had a new brother and two sisters and they were here on holiday and they would like me to visit. So off I went. The puppies did not stay still enough to have pictures taken. But this is one of my sisters I think.

This is my Mummy she likes being
comfortable too!!

This my Daddy

This is me, my Dad and Mum we had to be held we were so excited we couldn't sit still. Don't I look like my Mummy.

This is a nice picture of my friend Mikee.
 He likes his truck
