The years Alan & I spent as members
of the Shuswap Sail Club were certainly memorable ones and we
made many lasting friendships. We shared many a delicious pot
luck meal.
Alan loved his boat, Kestrel III and
sailed the lake 12 months of the year in all kinds of weather.
Some people questioned this behaviour, however, it truly
demonstrated his passion for the sport. He always tried to get
the most out of his boat at any given time, thus his study of
the winds and the setting of the rigging.
Alan left Kestrel III to his middle
son, Warren, because he felt the same passion for sailing as
Alan did.
You will still see the boat on the
lake as it is being sailed extensively. Did you notice the boat
on Canada Day????

Alan was a founding member of the Shuswap Sail Club, and over the years contributed to the welfare of the club in many many ways. One of his contributions was in the form of sailing hints by Captain Barnacle. The Shuswap Sail Club has taken a
hiatus from operation but in appreciation and in Al's memory I am sharing his
